Guarantano Update

By Michael Lipinski @MJL_52

As was reported everywhere including here, 4-star NJ QB Jarrett Guarantano was on campus yesterday for an unofficial visit.  By all accounts the visit went fairly well but according to Rivals.com Adam Friedman there will be some due diligence in the Guarantano camp.

Here’s a few bullet points from Friedman’s post over at Scarlet Nation (subscription required…do it!!!):

  • Guarantano is in constant communication with Tennessee & Ohio State and is expected to visit both schools before making a decision
  • He will not commit until he has visited both schools
  • Visits to both schools are currently in the works and could come soon
  • Despite other reports a commitment isn’t going to occur soon

An interesting, almost throwaway line, from Friedman that really should spark some curiosity was this one:

IMO if Guarantano were to commit to Rutgers, he would not commit alone. By that I mean Rutgers would get a commitment from Guarantano and another big name in-state player at the same time.

According to his Twitter (@j_fuller1) Old Tappan defensive back Jordan Fuller will be visiting Rutgers on Thursday.  Fuller, a 4-star recruit and younger brother to UCLA standout Devin Fuller, will be the second major New Jersey recruit to visit campus this week.

As noted previously, 4-star QB Jarrett Guarantano was on campus on Wednesday meeting with coaches and touring the campus.

Fuller, a crucial piece to the potential #RUDreamTeam16, holds offers from numerous schools including Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Alabama.

Bergen Catholic QB Jarrett Guarantano is back on campus for the second time this week.  As reported  by Scarlet Nation (subscription needed), Guarantano toured the campus with Mike Teel and EJ Barthel and by all accounts the visit went very well.

Is Guarantano close to a commitment?  It depends who you ask but when you look at the way things are progressing it’s very possible.  The addition of Guarantano, who’s dad Jim ’92 was inducted into the Rutgers football Hall of Fame in 1999, would go a long way to building the 2016 “dream team.”
